Premieres and Notables: April 18-24, 2011
Monday, 4/18
Cougartown returns from its hiatus tonight (ABC; 8:31 pm CST) before settling back in its usual Wed @8:30 timeslot.
Tuesday, 4/19
Parenthood (NBC; 9 pm CST). Season Finale.
Dresscue Me; Planet Green. 9:30 pm CST. Series Premiere.
A designer takes her clients vintage-clothes shopping.
Thursday, 4/21
Community (NBC; 7 pm CST) has a clip show. Except the clips are not from old episodes.
Don't think too hard about it. This show has proven it take take an unlikely subject/style and knock it out of the park. Just enjoy the ride.
Archer (FX; 9 pm CST). Season Finale.
This season was too short.
Friday, 4/22
Ice Pilots; National Geographic. 9 pm CST. Series Premiere.
A family of pilots transport people and things to remote areas of Canada.
Saturday, 4/23
Doctor Who; BBC America. 8 pm CST. 6th Series Premiere.
I enjoy this show, but I'm a bit surprised by just how excited I am for this new season.
I really dig Matt Smith's turn as The Doctor. Goofy, funny, but with an attitude that I would normally consider "bad ass" if he wasn't so likable. One of my favorite examples of this is when he simply said to a young boy who asked if he was afraid of monsters: "No. They're afraid of me."
Series Six ("Season Six" for us Americans) opens with an ambitious 2-parter not only set in America, but (for the first time for the series) filmed in America as he travels to 1969 to help Nixon turn back aliens who are hypnotizing the world's populace.
Sunday, 4/24
Treme; HBO. 9 pm CST. 2nd Season Premiere.
I'm embarrassed to say I haven't watched the first season yet, but I've heard very good things.
After Lately (E!; 10:30 pm CST). Season Finale.
The first season goes out with a bang with Tori Spelling, Dr. Drew, and Justin Beiber (who has had some great interviews with Chelsea) all showing up.

Friday (Brock's dub)
I'm not really about trying to further humiliate this poor girl. I mean, I haven't even seen the original (other than a couple seconds-worth of snippets on shows like The Soup).
But I thought this was pretty funny.

George R. R. Martin's books get the HBO treatment. I can't say I really understand what it's all about (power struggles, kingdoms, castles, epic battles), but there's big-time excitement for this out there. Worth checking out.
