Television Premieres and Notables: April 17-23, 2017
Monday, 4/17
24: Legacy (Fox; 7 pm CST). Season Finale.
2 Broke Girls (CBS; 8:30 pm CST). Season Finale.
Tuesday, 4/18
Famous in Love; Freeform. 8 pm CST. Series Premiere.
Trial & Error (NBC; 9 pm CST). Series Finale.
It really was a shame NBC moved it all over the place, filling schedule holes, but it really was a wackily charming series.
Do yourself a favor and catch up OnDemand or online or wherever you go to watch things after they air.
Wednesday, 4/19
The Magicians (Syfy; 8 pm CST). Season Finale.
Fargo; FX. 9 pm CST. 3rd Season Premiere.
I am looking forward to this one like no other this season,
The second season was the most perfect season of TV I've seen since The Wire season 4; I mean, there were only two small missteps (involving strange lights; if you watched S2, you know what I'm referring to) that really didn't detract from it..
This season, Ewan McGregor plays twins; one successful, one not so much. The not-so-much brother decides to hire a not-so-reliable person to steal something for him-- and, as you can imagine, it goes south. This being Fargo, you know it's goes south in a big, ever-expanding way.
And if this season is like the last two, there will be lots of incredible supporting actors (the always-great Mary Elizabeth Winstead is one) to delight in watching.
Friday, 4/21
Bill Nye Saves the World; Netflix. Streaming. Series Premiere.
Bill Nye schools adults on science.

ways.

A divorced ER doc decides to help people end their lives on their own terms.

Television Premieres and Notables: April 10-16, 2017
I'm going to admit, straight-up, that I'm guessing on some of these times.
The places I regurgitate this info from were lacking info this week.
Monday. 4/10
Better Call Saul; AMC. 8:00 pm CST. Season Premiere.
Angie Tribecca; TBS. 9:00 pm CST. 3rd Season Premiere.
I caught a "sneak" airing of the premiere, and it is pretty great.
There's a Hannibal Lector-like cameo that was fantastic.
Friday, 4/14
Chelsea; Netflix. Streaming. Season Premiere.
Sounds like they made some changes for this year. She's travelling more, and going to weekly shows that are an hour long.
Fortitude; Amazon Prime. Streaming. 2nd Season Premiere.
Saturday, 4/15
Doctor Who; BBC America. 8 pm CST. 10th Season Premiere.
The premiere of the last season with Steven Moffat as showrunner and Peter Capaldi as The Doctor-- and Pearl Mackie has already been non-renewed for the next season (before her character even gets introduced).
Sounds like a much-needed housecleaning. I think Capaldi's gotten the shaft with ever-more convoluted stories, but if he or Moffat or the Powers That Be decided it was time to make a change, let's see what they come up with for the their big send off...
Some tidbits that are already out there: Mackie's "Bill" will be Doctor Who's first gay companion, the original Mondasian Cyberman (creepy as Hell look and all) return, and Michelle Gomez and John Simms will return as Missy and The Master (no, that does not make sense, but I'm sure they'll work it out),
Class; BBC America. 9 p,m CST. (American) Series Premiere.
A Doctor Who spin-off featuring some staff and student of Coal Hill Academy, who are tasked by The Doctor to deal alien threats.
Sunday, 4/16
The Leftovers; HBO. 8 pm CST. 3rd--and Final-- Season Premiere.
Veep; HBO. 9 pm CST. Season Premiere.
