Television Premieres and Notables: January 11-16, 2016
Monday, 1/11
Cake Wars; Food. 8 pm CST. 3rd Season Premiere.
Tuesday, 1/12
Shadowhunters; Freeform (formerly ABC Family). 8 pm CST. Series Premiere.
MADtv 20th Anniversary Reunion; The CW. 7 pm CST. Special.
I'm excited for this, but also disappointed that it's only an hour.
Wednesday, 1/13
Second Chance; Fox. 8 pm CST. Series Premiere.
A 75-year-old dies and comes back (with some help) as a young man.
Younger; TV Land. 9 pm CST. 2nd Season Premiere.
Somehow, they made this premise last long enough for another season.
I found the series fun, and Sutton Foster is excellent.
Teachers; TV Land. 10 pm CST. Series Premiere.
A workplace comedy that looks at what teachers do.
Thursday, 1/14
Workaholics; Comedy Central. 9 pm CST. Season Premiere.
Colony; USA. 9 pm CST. Series Premiere.
Lost Exec Producer Carlton Cuse brings us this series about a Los Angeles that was invaded by an unknown force.
And he brought Josh Holloway with him as a man who is trying to get into a resistance group.
Idiotsitter; Comedy Central. 9:30 pm CST. Series Premiere.
A Harvard grad looks into a babysitting/nanny/tutor job to find out it's for watching over an adult heiress.
I saw the pilot, and it's pretty lowbrow and crass (like many recent cable comedies) without any of the charm. I'll give it a few eps, but I don't have high hopes.
Friday, 1/15
Hell's Kitchen; Fox. 8 pm CST. Season Premiere.
Real Time With Bill Maher; HBO. 9 pm CST. Season Premiere.
Degrassi: Next Class; Netflix. Streaming. Season Premiere.
Saturday, 1/16
Sesame Street; HBO. 8 am CST. Season Premiere.
Now on HBO, so expect the premiere ep to be "Brought to you by the letter 'F'".
And maybe have more titties than usual...
Sunday, 1/17
Angie Tribecca; TBS. 8 pm CST. Series Premiere.
A detective sitcom brought to us from Steve and Nancy Carell.
Mercy Street; PBS. 9 pm CST (check local listings). Series Premiere.
PBS brings us this series set at a field hospital in the early years of the Civil War.
Billions; Showtime. 9 pm CST. Series Premiere.
Damian Lewis plays a billionaire, and Paul Giamatti plays the prosecutor who is trying to bring him down.

Television Premieres and Notables: January 4-10, 2016
Sorry I missed the last two week's posts. Too many things going on.
At least they were very light weeks. So anyway, sorry if you missed the Luther, Doctor Who, and Sherlock specials. Or missed the premieres of Telenovela and Superstore. Maybe you can catch Downton Abbey, Galavant, Cooper Barrett and BorderTown tonight. At any rate, the last six are things you can probably catch OnDemand or online.
Anyway, let's give 2016 a shot...

Hollywood Game Night; NBC. 7 pm CST. Season Premiere.
Killing Fields; Discovery. 9 pm CST. Series Premiere.

American Crime; ABC. 9 pm CST. 2nd Season Premiere.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia; FXX. 9 pm CST. Season Premiere.
Man Seeking Woman; FXX. 9:30 pm CST. 2nd Season Premiere.
