Television Premieres and Notables: December 15-21, 2014
Monday, 12/15
Hart of Dixie; CW. 7 pm CST. 4th Season Premiere.
Ascension; Syfy. 8 pm CST. Mini-series Premiere.
The marketing on this thing sucks.Granted, I didn't do a lot of investigating (should I have to dig around? no: "marketing"), but I still can't tell you much about it. There's a space station, a murder that happens, and mysteries abound (at least that's an honest guess based on the commercials I've seen).
Tuesday, 12/16
Elf: Buddy's Musical Christmas; NBC. 7 pm CST. Special.
An animated retelling of the 2003 film-- with some of the Broadway musical thrown in.
Wednesday, 12/17
Survivor (CBS; 7 pm CST). Season Finale.
Hell's Kitchen (Fox. 7 pm CST.) Season Finale.
Thursday, 12/18
White Collar (USA; 8 pm CST). Series Finale.
The Colbert Report (Comedy Central; 10:30 pm CST). Series Premiere.
After a few years away from it, I started watching it again late last year.
I do appreciate the absolute "all in" attitude Colbert gave this Fox News-inspired character, and his ability to make fun of right wing cluelessness while acting as if he was on their side. That's a tough balancing act, and he did it masterfully.
Friday, 12/19
Comedy Bang! Bang! (IFC; 10 pm CST). Season Finale.
The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson (CBS; 11:37 pm CST). Series Finale.
I never watched this (or any late night talk show) with regularity, but every time I did tune in, I did admire Ferguson's style-- and lack of caring about following the typical late show conventions.
All Hail King Julien; Netflix. Streaming. Series Premiere.
Because DreamWorks hasn't pimped-out Madagascar enough...
Sunday, 12/21
Homeland (Showtime; 8 pm CST). Season Finale.
The Affair (Showtime; 9 pm CST). Season Finale.
Hart of Dixie; CW. 7 pm CST. 4th Season Premiere.

Monday, 12/1
The Heart, She Holler; adult swim. 11:30 pm CST. Season Premiere.
Tuesday, 12/2
Toy Story That Time Forgot; ABC. 7 pm CST. Special.
ABC/Pixar/Disney brings us a Holiday-themed special now that it's Holiday Season.
That's nice timing.
The Flash (The CW; 7 pm CST) is the first part of a cross-over with Arrow (tomorrow at 7 pm).
Should be all kinds of awesome.
The Little Couple; TLC. 8 pm CST. 7th Season Premiere.
Girlfriend's Guide to Divorce; Bravo. 9 pm CST. Series Premiere.
A self-help author separates from her husband-- and doesn't know how to tell her friends.
There's something special about this show, but I'm sorry to say i'm too lazy to look it up.
(I think it may be Bravo's first scripted series. Don't quote me on that, though.)
Screen Machines; Reelz. 10 pm CST. Series Premiere.
Don't know the gist of this show, but the first episode features the crew making a replica of the Ghostbusters Ecto 1 car.
Wednesday, 12/3
Red Band Society (Fox; 8 pm CST). Mid-season Finale.
(And whatever's left may be burned-off sometime later as the show was told to halt production...)
Thursday, 12/4
Peter Pan Live! NBC. 7 pm CST. Special.
Well, the live musical that NBC has been talking about since their last one is finally here.
And, just so you know, it's really live. I mean, there's an exclamation point right there in the title.
Pauly Shore Stands Alone; Showtime. 7 pm CST. Special.
Friday, 12/5
Taboo; Discovery. 7 pm CST. 11th Season Premiere.
One Child; Sundance. 8 pm CST. Miniseries Premiere.
Sunday, 12/7
The Librarians; TNT. 7 pm CST. Series Premiere.
The Red Tent; Lifetime. 8 pm CST. Miniseries Premiere.
It's bibical, soap opera-y fun.
Eaten Alive; Discovery. 8 pm CST. Special.
I think some dude purposefully gets eaten by a boa constrictor, just because...
That-- and ratings...
And hopefully money...
