Somehow, Charlie Sheen made it to episode 100...

The 2014 Christmas Special has The Doctor and Clara teaming up with Santa Claus himself.

Black Mirror; DirecTV. 8:30 pm CST. Special.
Fans of this show are crazy-rabid fans. One of those being Jon Hamm, who snagged a role in this year's Christmas Special.

Friday, 12/26

HBO Signature is airing the long-awaited (but not always perfect) HD presentation of (the best show I've ever seen:) The Wire. One season a day, for the next five days, starting at 11 am this morning.

[So why "not always perfect"? It was intentionally framed in 4:3 aspect, so while many shots took advantage of the 16:9 aspect of the cameras the show was filmed with, sometimes the solution to make the 4:3 into 16:9 was to crop the top of the frame-- especially in instances where the filmed 16:9 showed things not intended to be on screen (like production people, boom mics, etc).]

And why watch The Wire?  Here's what I wrote a few years ago.

Sunday, 12/28

The Great British Baking Show; PBS. 7 pm CST. Series Premiere.

Sunday Night Football (NBC; 7:30 pm CST). Season Finale.

Monday, 12/15

Hart of Dixie; CW. 7 pm CST. 4th Season Premiere.

Ascension; Syfy. 8 pm CST. Mini-series Premiere.
The marketing on this thing sucks.Granted, I didn't do a lot of investigating (should I have to dig around? no: "marketing"), but I still can't tell you much about it. There's a space station, a murder that happens, and mysteries abound (at least that's an honest guess based on the commercials I've seen).

Tuesday, 12/16

Elf: Buddy's Musical Christmas; NBC. 7 pm CST. Special.
An animated retelling of the 2003 film-- with some of the Broadway musical thrown in.

Wednesday, 12/17

Survivor (CBS; 7 pm CST). Season Finale.

Hell's Kitchen (Fox. 7 pm CST.) Season Finale.

Thursday, 12/18

White Collar (USA; 8 pm CST). Series Finale.

The Colbert Report (Comedy Central; 10:30 pm CST). Series Premiere.
After a few years away from it, I started watching it again late last year.
I do appreciate the absolute "all in" attitude Colbert gave this Fox News-inspired character, and his ability to make fun of right wing cluelessness while acting as if he was on their side.  That's a tough balancing act, and he did it masterfully.

Friday, 12/19

Comedy Bang! Bang! (IFC; 10 pm CST). Season Finale.

The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson (CBS; 11:37 pm CST). Series Finale.
I never watched this (or any late night talk show) with regularity, but every time I did tune in, I did admire Ferguson's style-- and lack of caring about following the typical late show conventions.

All Hail King Julien; Netflix. Streaming. Series Premiere.
Because DreamWorks hasn't pimped-out Madagascar enough...

Sunday, 12/21

Homeland (Showtime; 8 pm CST). Season Finale.

The Affair (Showtime; 9 pm CST). Season Finale.
