Premieres and Notables: November 7-13, 2011
Monday, 11/7
Poppy Cat; Sprout. 6 pm CST. Series Premiere.
So, last week, How I Met Your Mother (CBS; 7 pm CST) had the return of the Slutty Pumpkin. This week, the Slap Bet rears its ugly head again. Not sure who gets it, but I think Marshall still owes Barney two shots across the chops. And The Ducky Tie also plays a role in the episode.
Tuesday, 11/8
Vietnam in HD; History. 8 pm CST. Mini-series Premiere.
This three-part series feature footage shot by the soldiers themselves and converted to high-def.
Chuck's Week Off; Cooking Channel. 9:30 pm CST. Series Premiere.
Chuck Hughes travels the world and eats stuff.
Wednesday 11/9
Jason Lee begins a multi-episode arc as a romantic interest for Maya Rudolph's Ava on Up All Night (NBC; 7 pm CST).
Maybe Lee's presence on the show can do something about making Ava funny...
Hell, I hope Lee makes the show funny... period. I have been mildly amused, but haven't laughed yet.
Prophets of Science Fiction; Science. 9 pm CST. Mini-series Premiere.
Exec producer Ridley Scott examines the people and works who made science fiction what it is.
The pilot explores Mary Shelley and her book Frankenstein.
Thursday, 11/10

The Secret Circle (The CW; 8 pm CST). Mid-season Finale.
Chef Hunter; Food Network. 9 pm CST. Series Premiere.
"Culinary recruiter" (I guess it's a real job) Carrie McCully auditions chefs for executive positions at restaurants.
Friday, 11/11
Green Lantern: The Animated Series; Cartoon Network. 6 pm CST. Series Premiere.
I'm not a fan of the look of the series (based on previews I've seen), but it has a ton of potential as a franchise.
Metal Evolution; VH1 Classic. 9 pm CST. Mini-series Premiere.
The network culminates it's "Heavy Metal Day" (11-11-11-- get it? "Cranking it to 11."?) This 11-part series looks at where heavy metal came from and where it ended up.

The Slutty Pumpkin returns on How I Met Your Mother (CBS; 7 pm CST). The only other appearance of TSP was in an early episode in the first season, and it was the episode that hooked me on the show, so I'm looking forward to this one.

Burn Notice; USA. 9 pm CST. Mid-season Premiere.

(I believe) This series follows the therapy sessions of people who have bad sex.
That sounds soooo hot...
Sunday, 11/6
Hell on Wheels; AMC. 9 pm CST. Series Premiere.
During the building of the Continental railroad, a Confederate soldier works to gain revenge on the Union soldier who killed his wife.
It's on AMC, and they've got a pretty good track record with original dramas so far. It's probably worth checking out.
The Heart, She Holler; adult swim. 11:30 pm CST. Mini-series Premiere.
It's adult swim; I'm sure I could never explain what this is about.

Hilarious.
