The Avengers
This past weekend, the kids and I watched The Avengers. While not a perfect movie (so very few are), it is damn fun.
And for a summer tentpole flick, it is very high up there. The characters were fun to watch, we got some sadness (to show us the stakes, a fan favorite bit the dust), some fantastic action sequences-- and loads of well-placed humor.
The Avengers comics were the ones that began my 20-year obsession with those monthly published versions of crack cocaine, so to see the characters brought to screen so carefully is a lot of fun. And to see them get it right so often (from Iron Man on) fills my heart with joy.
I could blab on and on, but I won't because others have done it better already (I'm sure a Google search for "Avengers film review" will show hundreds).
I was going to leave you with a pirated bit from the film; a showdown between the Hulk and Loki, which I found to be quite brilliant because it takes an unexpected-- and hilarious-- turn. But the vid has already been pulled a mere 24 hours after I found it.
So, how about this pic...
