Premieres and Notables; Oct. 6-12, 2008

Sorry-- I'm typing this one up before I get Entertainment Weekly, which has the more obscure shows listed. Hopefully, I won't miss too much.

Monday, 10/6

Prison Break (FOX; 8 pm): Gretchen + T-Bag = an even more exciting season.

Wednesday, 10/8

The Tony Rock Project; My Network TV. 7 pm. Series Premiere.
Chris' little brother gets his own show. No idea what it's about.

Thursday, 10/9

Kath & Kim; NBC. 7:30 pm CST. Series Premiere.
Molly Shannon stars as a divorce who has her home invaded when her spoiled daughter moves back in. I watched a few eps of the original Australian show, and it was cute, but not enough for me to keep watching. NBC is pushing this show hard, and that usually means it's not that great when they're filling space on Thursdays.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation; CBS. 8 pm. 9th Season Premiere.
The gang (even Sara) comes together to solve the crime of who shot Warrick.

Saturday Night Live Weekend Update Thursday; NBC. 8:31 pm. Mini-series.
Seth Meyers and Amy Poehler anchor a three-week Thursday version of their SNL routine. Let's hope they put more time into their show than they did on their title...

Life on Mars; ABC. 9:01. Series Premiere.
Jason O'Mara stars as NYPD detective Sam Tyler, who gets into an accident and finds himself in 1973 New York. I haven't seen the original British show yet, but I heard it was pretty good. Doesn't mean this one will be good, either, but it does prove that the odd premise can work.

Friday, 10/10

WWE Smackdown; My Network TV. 7 pm. Season Premiere.

Degrassi: The Next Generation; The N. 7 pm. 8th Season Premiere.

The Starter Wife; USA. 8 pm. 2nd Season Premiere.

Saturday, 10/11

Dogs 101/Cats 101; Animal Planet. 7 pm. 10-episode series.
Eight eps devoted to dogs and two to cats.
