Monday, 3/15
Zeke & Luther; Disney XD. 6:30 pm CST. 2nd Season Premiere.
Secret Diary of a Call Girl (Showime; 9 pm CST). Season Finale.
Tuesday, 3/16
Justified; FX. 9 pm CST. Series Premiere.
Timothy Olyphant plays a deputy who gets reassigned to the hometown he ran away from.
Let's count the ways this show is going to kick all kinds of ass:
1. Olyphant plays A). a lawman with B). a stetson. It worked for him on Deadwood.
2. The Shield's Walton Goggins plays one of Olyphant's main antogonists, a neo-Nazi who likes blowing stuff up.
3. This series is based on an Elmore Leonard novella. Leonard is also a producer for this show.
4. Executive producer Graham Yost was also creator of Boomtown; one of the best network series of the past ten years.
5. It's on FX. Expect this to be more grown-up than the procedurals you see on the Big Four networks..
Wednesday, 3/17
Scrubs (ABC; 7 pm CST). Season Finale.
Considering how well the rest of the ABC comedy line-up has gone over this season-- and how poorly this season of Scrubs has gone over-- it may be safe to predict this is a series finale (which would be the third this show has had the past 3-4 years).
Gary Unmarried (CBS; 7:30 pm CST). Season Finale.
This show hasn't gotten the word if it's coming back in the Fall, either...
Addicted; TLC. 9 pm CST. Series Premiere.
A formerly drug-addicted prostitute helps addicts kick their habits.
Ugly Americans; Comedy Central. 9:30 pm CST. Series Premiere.
Animated series about a New York social worker who must help the monsters who move into the city on becoming productive members of society.
Thursday, 3/18
FlashForward (ABC; 7 pm CST) returns afer a long hiatus.
Archer (FX; 9 pm CST). Season Finale.
Saturday, 3/20
Survivors (BBC America; 8 pm) Season Finale.

An 11-part look at life on Earth, courtesy of the Planet Earth people.
Breaking Bad; AMC. 9 pm CST. 3rd Season Premiere.
Kirstie Alley's Big Life; A&E. 9 pm CST. Series Premiere.
No one has benefitted more from weight gain than Kirstie Alley. Remember when she was an actress? Now she's got cameras following her around for a reality show...

How to Clear Snow From a Roof
Not sure if this qualifies as a stunt as it's not shown how it starts, but something had to be the catalyst for this.
Or else the guy holding the camera leads such a boring life that he records everything.

Plushenko Wuz Robbed
I thought he was just whining when he said he deserved gold instead of silver in the Olympics.
Then I saw his routine:
Lysacek didn't have fucking dragons, did he?
No. No he did not.

Jennifer Lopez appears as the "Anti-Barney" on How I Met Your Mother (CBS; 7 pm CST).
Make It or Break It (ABC Family; 8 pm CST). Season Finale.
Tuesday, 3/9
Bad Girls Club (Oxygen; 9 pm CST). Season Finale.
Food Wars; Travel Channel. 9 pm CST. Series Premiere.
Rival restaurants comepete in taste tests.
White Collar (USA; 9 pm CST). Season Finale.
Wednesday, 3/10
I don't watch this show because I just can't get that high, but I had to mention that Anthony Bourdain appears on Yo Gabba Gabba! (Nickelodeon; 9:30 am) today.
Anthony Bourdain!
America's Next Top Model; The CW. 7 pm CST. Season Premiere.
High Society; The CW. 8:30 pm CST. Series Premiere.
I think this is a reality show featuring Upper East Side socialites.
Psych (USA; 9 pm CST). Season Finale.
First Love, Second Chance; TV Land. 9 pm CST. Series Premiere.
Old loves try to renew their passions.
Friday, 3/12
Supernanny (ABC; 8 pm CST). Season Finale.
Numb3rs (CBS; 9 pm CST). Season Finale.
CBS still hasn't given the show a renewal, but this episode can also be a series finale if need be.
Saturday, 3/13
The Pacific; HBO. 8 pm CST. Mini-series.
The Band of Brothers creators return to WWII; this time, on the Asian Front.
I'm pretty sure I can say this is must see television right here.
The Guard; ION. 8 pm CST. Series Premiere.
A show featuring four Canadian Coast Guard members. I'm pretty sure it's scripted and not reality.
Who knows anymore? Too much crap filling the airwaves have made it almost impossible to distinguish what's real and not from a few sentences in a magazine.
Ultimate Recipe Showdown; Food Network. 8 pm CST. Season Premiere.
Celebrity Apprentice; NBC. 8 pm CST. Season Premiere.
This time, the celebs (*snicker*) play for charity...
Sons of Tuscon; FOX. 8:30 pm CST. Series Premiere.
Three brothers hire a slacker to pretend to be their father.
The slacker would be played by Tyler Lebine; I'm pretty sure he'll nail it.
America's Worst Driver; Travel. 9 pm CST. Series Premiere.
I don't know anything about it, but I think the title is a tip-off...

Dolph Lundgren-- A Little Less Conversation
You know, many singers would use the music solo parts of the song to prance around, flirt with chicks, or ask, "How is everyone tonight?"
Not Dolph. He kicks ass.

Monday, 3/1
The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love (ABC; 7 pm CST). Season Finale.
Hopefully that's the last time I have to type that stupid-ass name...
Ted gets another fling on How I Met Your Mother (CBS; 7:00 pm)-- this time, she's played by Carrie Underwood.
Rules of Engagement; CBS. 7:30 pm CST. Season Premiere.
Only about four months too late. I'm not a huge fan of this one, but they didn't need to air all those episodes of Accidentally on Purpose. We knew it was crap from the first ep.
I'm just sayin'...
The Haney Project; Golf. 8 pm CST. Season Premiere.
This time, the project is Mr. Ray Romano.
Rob Zombie directs tonight's episode of CSI: Miami (CBS; 9 pm CST)-- and brings along guest stars Malcolm McDowell and Michael Madsen.
Tuesday, 3/2
Madman of the Sea; Animal Planet. 9 pm CST. Series Premiere.
A fishing daredevil tries to land the big ones.
Southland; TNT. 9 pm CST. 2nd Season Premiere.
TNT burns off the six episodes filmed for NBC before they cancelled the show (to make room for Leno's 9 pm debacle-- bet they wish they had a "do over"). I didn't check it out last season, but the addition of Prison Break's Amaury Nolasco has me intriuged. --And because I know there's only gonna be six episodes, so it's not a big time commitment...
Parenthood; NBC. 9 pm CST. Series Premiere.
Let's see...
Killer cast (Craig T. Nelson, Lauren Graham, Bonnie Bedelia, Peter Krause, Monica Potter, Dax Shepard, and a few others you might recognize),
killer creators (Ron Howard and Brian Grazer),
and a premise built on a movie (the name of the title) I remember enjoying quite a bit.
Way more could go wrong than right (could be a Brothers & Sisters "crisis of the week" or a Private Practice "nobody gives a crap about your crises" show), but I think this show will buck the odds and end up to be pretty good.
Wednesday, 3/3
Ghost Hunters; Syfy. 8 pm CST. 6th Season Premiere.
High School Reunion (TV Land; 9 pm CST). Season Finale.
The Locator; WE. 9 pm CST. 4th Season Premiere.
Nip/Tuck (FX; 9 pm CST). Series Finale.
Kathy Griffin guest-stars on Law & Order: SVU (NBC; 9 pm CST). You've seen how guest-stars thrive on this franchise, right? May be worth checking out.
The Oprah Winfrey Oscar Special; ABC. 9:01 pm CST. Special.
Normally I wouldn't mention this because I don't care about Oprah-- and these shows are usually tripe. But I like the concept: Halle Berry interviews Penelope Cruz (and the hotness in that studio could melt the set), James Cameron interviews the cast of Avatar, and Michael Douglas and Glenn Close talk about Fatal Attraction. I like the out-of-the-box thinking here.
But I do wonder what Winfrey's gonna do... Sounds like she's got an easy gig.
Thursday, 3/4
Baby Halpert makes his/her first appearance on this very special, hour-long episode of The Office (NBC; 8 pm).
Burn Notice (USA; 9 pm CST). Season Finale.
Some Real Housewives are coming and going tonight.
I don't care.
If you do, you may want to check out Bravo's sched.
Sorry-- typing about trash like that hurts my fingers.
Friday, 3/5
Who Do You Think You Are? NBC. 7 pm CST. Series Premiere.
Celebrities dig into their family trees. Tonight, it's Sarah Jessica Parker's turn.
Do we really need this show? Don't we know more than enough about most of these celebs?
Sunday, 3/7
The Academy Awards air tonight on ABC at 7 pm CST.
Expect way too much pre-show nonsense by various networks earlier.
Like most awards shows, I probably won't be tuning in. I just don't give a shit about the fashion, and too many "robberies" have me disappointed in the awards themselves.
...And if someone gives a really great speech, I can on online to see it later.
Big Love (HBO; 8 pm CST). Season Finale.
Wow-- a whole 9 episodes this year...

Premieres and Notables; February 22-28, 2010
Last week, I said I was going to try to keep up with all the Olympic coverage...
Yeah, that lasted until Tuesday when there was over eighteen hours of coverage.
Yep-- in 2014, I'm taking vacation time. Before I die, I will watch an entire Olympiad.
Anyway, I decided to stick with men's curling because curling's cool-- and the U.S. team is made up of Minnesotans, three of which are from Duluth-- my childhood home-- and a fourth is from (relatively) nearby Chisolm.
I also stuck with women's hockey; again, because of the Duluth connection (17 Olympians on six of the eight teams have some connection to the University of Minnesota-Duluth).
I'll also try to watch the major U.S. men's hockey games. I mean, I'm a Duluth boy; of course I'm going to watch hockey...
And, finally, I'm watching all the women's curling, again because I think the sport is fun to watch (having "discovered" it in the 2006 Olympics)-- as well as because there's at least one smokin' hot athlete on each team (that I've seen so far). Each team seemed to have an even cuter member than the team before them-- until I got to Denmark's team. They sometimes wear skirts. How cool is that? Sure, they wear heavy, black tights with the skirts, but-- skirts! Again, I say: how cool is that?
Anyway, lots of great stuff went on last week. And this is the last week to check it out.
Frankly, I'm rooting for the U.S. hockey teams to come out on top, but if it doesn't happen, I gotta pull for Canada. If either team wins gold, the country is gonna go crazy.
If both teams win gold, we will witness our neighbors to the North completely losing their shit.
But we are talking Canada. I don't expect any Boston or Detroit-level riots with a win.
Just to explain how polite Canada is, after their women's hockey team pummeled the Slovakian team (in its first Olympic appearance) 18-0, the Canadian fans gave the Slovaks a standing ovation. It was with complete sincerity and was a way to acknowledge that the underdogs didn't give up-- and that their goalie played a remarkable game, even if 18 pucks got across the line. (Trust me, the score could have been much, much worse).
It was a classy move. And one of my favorite moments of this Olympiad.
So, onto (mostly) non-Olympics TV:
Monday, 2/22
Men of a Certain Age (TNT; 9 pm CST). Season Finale.
This series got better, quickly, after its slow-moving pilot. I'll miss it.
Wednesday, 2/24
Snoop Dogg makes another cameo on One Life to Live (ABC; 1 pm CST). I'm not sure why he does, but I had to mention it because it seems so... random.
Aaron Stone; Disney XD. 7 & 7:30 pm CST. Season Premiere.
The Inbetweeners; BBC America. 8:30 pm. 2nd Season Premiere.
Yeah, yeah, BBC shows have short seasons, and this just follows the end of the first season last week, but I won't turn down a chance to mention my new favorite show again.
Thursday, 2/25
Women's ice hockey gold medal game (expect USA vs. Canada) at 5 pm on MSNBC.
The Deep End (ABC; 7 pm CST). Season Finale.
Friday, 2/26
Women's curling gold medal game at 5 pm on CNBC.
Live From Abbey Road; Sundance. 7 pm CST. 3rd Season Premiere.

Saturday, 2/27
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse; Disney. 8 am. Season Premiere.
Men's curling gold medal game at 5 pm on CNBC.
Pit Boss (Animal Planet; 9 pm CST). Season Finale.
Sunday, 2/28
Men's ice hockey gold medal game (remember what I said if Canada wins?) at 11 am on NBC.
Olympic Closing Ceremony at 6 pm on NBC.
The Marriage Ref; NBC. 9:30 pm (I'd "record-long" if you're DVR-ing it). Series Premiere.
Jerry Seinfeld produces this humorous show which settles disputes between spouses.
Tim and Eris Awesome Show, Great Job! adult swim. 11:30 pm. 5th Season Premiere.

Not many new things going on due to the Winter Olympics (which have been great so far), so take some time to watch the international competition. I'm going to try to watch every televised competition (and I admit I'll FF through some of the runs/heats, especially from those not from the U.S. or Canada and are not expected to medal). It's not too tough. NBC/MSNBC/CNBC are only airing about a dozen hours a day.
You never know when a miracle will happen. There have been been some great moments just in Day One.
Monday, 2/15
NPH (that's Neil Patrick Harris for those "not in the know") guest-voices on The Penguins of Madagascar (Nickelodeon; 7 pm CST) as their nemesis, Dr. Blowhole.

Wednesday, 2/17

Thursday, 2/18
Reporter; HBO. 8:30 pm CST. Special.
This documentary follows journalist Nicholas D. Kristoff's mission to show the world the suffering that is going on in eastern Congo.
Friday, 2/19
The Ricky Gervais Show; HBO. 8 pm CST. Series Premiere.
The record-setting podcast gets animated. I've read that the podcast is hilarious at times (and I'm reading a book with some transcipts of it now; some funny stuff), but animating those same podcasts apparently doesn't play as well if the reviews I've read are any indication...
The Life & Times of Tim; HBO. 8:30 pm CST. 2nd Season Premiere.
Real Time With Bill Maher; HBO. 9 pm CST. 8th Season Premiere.

This reality show follows Everybody Hates Chris dad, Terry Crews', family.
Oh, man, it's bad when an actor of Crews' caliber needs this between gigs.

The Pack may not have made it to today, but some fans still haven't given up.
Premieres and Notables; February 8-14, 2010
Monday, 2/8
Heroes (NBC; 8 pm CST). Season Finale.
There's been talk that this is the series finale, but I think NBC will give it one more year. It could be a shortened year, but I think they'll end it properly.
[But then, the large amounts of pilots they've ordered could force out this show next year, too.]
NFL Full Contact; truTV. 9 pm CST. Series Premiere.
Gonna miss football about the Super Bowl? Well, truTV is going to keep your addiction alive.
This show features subjects like: crowd control, draft coverage, behind the scenes at the Cowboy's first game in their new stadium...
Tuesday, 2/9
Past Life; FOX. 8 pm CST. Series Premiere.
A psychic who specializes in past lives teams up with an ex-cop to solve crimes.
[Oddly enough, there's no mention of how every single case gets thrown out of court due to lack of credible evidence.]
The Jay Leno Show (NBC; 9 pm CST). Series Finale.
Didn't know it was still on, did you?
Wednesday, 2/10

SciGirls; PBS. 7:30 am CST (check local listings). Series Premiere.
These tween girls make science look cool.
Survivors; BBC America. 7 pm CST. Series Premiere.
A flu pandemic wipes out most of humanity. This series follows the survivors as they attempt to... survive.
I've read decent things-- and I know that my latest crush, Freema Agyeman, appears in a few eps-- so I'll be checking it out.
Sunday, 2/14
The Amazing Race; CBS. 7 pm CST. 16th Season Premiere.
Ruby; Style. 7 pm CST. Season Premiere.
I just read in EW that she weighed 716 pounds at one point.
Now she's trying on jeans.
Incredible.

This 13-part doc investigates wives in prison.
[Hey-- sometimes the title actually does explain the program.]
How to Make It in America; HBO. 9 pm CST. Series Premiere.
A comedy that follows a duo of young designers as they try to work their way into the New York fashion industry.

Mel Gibson-- Joker
I love how Gibson thinks he can disappear from the public eye without really responding to "the episode"-- and not expect to get asked the question.
And then to close the clip: what Mel thinks of the interviewer-- and he was still wired for sound.
Jackass...

I don't really want to slam the dude, mainly because the infamous hand clap at the Golden Globes was spontaneous and "real", but I thought this remix was pretty funny.

In this episode, Sarah thinks she was born as a hermaphrodite, so she decides to "man-up" a little.

What producers are touting as the "Smallville movie everyone wants us to make", tonight's ep (CW; 7 pm) features Clark and Chloe-- and the rest of the Justice League-- bumping up against The Justice Society in a 2-hour episode titled "Absolute Justice". And to add a little more spice to the meal, Amanda Waller and Checkmate also appear. And if that weren't enough, the episode is written by DC Comics mastermind Geoff Johns, the man who made the JSA cool.
Saturday, 2/6
Temple Grandin; HBO. 7 pm CST. Movie.
I've read a number of rave reviews for this look Grandin's life, starring Claire Danes.
Demons (BBC America; 8 pm CST). Series Finale.
Sunday, 2/7
A little something called Super Bowl XLIV (CBS; 5 pm CST) will keep most other networks in repeats or trying to do some cross-programming (the best is still Animal Planet's Puppy Bowl-- the sixth edition airs today-- which is just two hours of puppies playing). If the game doesn't interest you, do some channel-surfing.
Undercover Boss; CBS. 9 pm (approx-- follows the game). Series Premiere.
A new reality show that finds heads of companies working amongst their employees, who don't know who the new worker actual is. Could be crap, but I've heard decent things. And I'll predict it'll end up being terribly predictable by about episode three.

AOTS: Alison Brie
Here's Attack of the Show's interview with Community's (NBC; Thursday, 7:30 pm CST) Alison Brie.
Since Community premiered last Fall, I knew she was funny... And cute...
But there is also something really sexy about her as well, as this interview proves:

Get Caught Inbetweener
I've checked out the first three episodes of BBC America's The Inbetweeners (8:30 pm CST), and I'm hooked.
It's lewd and (very) crude-- but also very, very funny.
The best way I can describe it is to say it's Superbad in England.
And even though you missed the first three eps, BBC America is nice enough to repeat the first two eps this Saturday night (at 9:00 & 9:30 pm CST, 12:00 & 12:30 am, and 3:00 and 3:30 am). Repeats of the third episode air again next Wednesday at 8:00 pm before the fourth episode airs at 8:30, with repeats of those two eps throughout Wednesday and early Thursday.
The first ep introduces us to Will, the new kid in school, who ends up putting his foot in his mouth over and over. He meets up with three other castoffs (Simon, the romantic; Neil, the smart kid (maybe); and Jay, the ladies man/pervert), and they bond over trying to get a drink at a pub-- which should elevate them in status.
The second ep is a classic: the four boys skip school, attain some booze, partake in the spirits for the first time-- and then try to make through the rest of their day, with predictably bad results. The end of the episode features Will and Simon trying to convince their parents not to punish them. Fantastic stuff.
The third episode features Simon getting his driver's license (in a very unusual-- and hilarious-- way), getting a P.O.S to drive, and driving the gang to the amusement park.
Here's a link of some Simon moments that may explain what the show is about: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G48J5ZpRbqs
Now I will say again: it's very crude. But I'll also say again: it's very funny.
Check it out.

Team Umizoomi; Nickelodeon. 10:30 am CST. Series Premiere.
Three young superheroes use math to solve their problems.
And since it's on Nick, I'm sure there will be plenty of poop and booger jokes, so don't think it's gonna all be about learnin' and stuff...

Sunday, 1/31
Camp Woodward; Fuel. 7 pm CST. Season Premiere.
Durham County (Ion; 9 pm CST). Season Finale.
Little Chocolatiers; TLC. 9 pm CST. Series Premiere.
Little people run a chocolate shop.
We get it! We get it! Little people can do the same things average-size people can. I don't need to see yet another TV show about it because I already knew that fact!
It seems the morons that run the networks are the only ones who haven't picked up on that.
You know, after a certain point, it feels like exploitation...

Antique hunters sift through dumpsters to find "gold".
Super-- I can't wait for the onslaught of garbage-picking rip-offs that's sure to follow.
Life Unexpected; The CW. 8 pm CST. Series Premiere.
A teen girl has a baby and puts her up for adoption. Fifteen years later, the baby (now a teen girl herself) reconnects with her (and the father), and an instant family (with "issues") is born.
This show is supposed to go back to The WB-style of drama (Gilmore Girls, Dawson's Creek, Felicity) as opposed to The CW style of teen shenanigans.
It's supposed to be worth checking out-- even with the Juno influences (teen girl who is too wise).
Big Time Rush; Nickelodeon. 7:30 pm CST. Series Premiere.
Yet another boy band TV show. This time, though, they're from Minnesota, so expect lots of cold weather and hick jokes because that's all the Midwest is known for in Hollywood...
Buried Life; MTV. 9:00 pm CST. Series Premiere.
I'm breaking my "no MTV" rule here-- but I like the premise of this show. Four guys travel together to help people fulfill their fantasies. Uh-- with hot tubs and threesomes? Possibly (we are talking MTV here)-- but I have read that this show is "uplifting". I'm willing to give the net the benefit of the doubt (even though I won't tune in, I'll at least mention it here).
My Life as Liz; MTV. 9:30 pm CST. Series Premiere.
I'm breaking my "no MTV" rule here again-- but I've read that this sitcom isn't too bad. And, more importantly, a bit of a departure (non-trashy reality shows) for the network.
Be Good Johnny Weir; Sundance. 9:30 pm. Series Premiere.
Reality series following the attempt of figure skater Johnny Weir to qualify for the upcoming Olympics.
Tuesday, 1/19
Real Sports With Bryant Gumbel; HBO. 9 pm CST. Series Premiere.
The best (and only) news-style show I watch. Pure awesome.
Millionaire Matchmaker; Bravo. 9 pm CST. 3rd Season Premiere.
White Collar; USA. 9 pm CST. Winter Return.
Paranormal Cops; A&E. 9:30 pm. Series Premiere.
Real Chicago cops hunt for ghosts on their time off.

Mr. Harris returns to complicate Christine's love life on The New Adventures of Old Christine (CBS; 7 pm CST). I've really dug Blair Underwood's work on this show in the past, so I thought I'd mention it.
Being Erica; SOAPnet. 9 pm CST. 2nd Season Premiere.
Thursday, 1/21
The Deep End; ABC. 7 pm CST. Series Premiere.
Young lawyers traverse the dangerous waters of an L.A. law firm.
Food Tech; History. 8 pm CST. Series Premiere.
What goes into meals, as told by Bobby Bognar.
Burn Notice; USA. 9 pm CST. Winter Return.
Friday, 1/22
Dollhouse (FOX; 8 pm CST). Series Finale.
Caprica; Syfy. 8 pm CST. Series Premiere.
Syfy finally airs the 2-hr movie that sets up the series (which continues next week).
Yes, this is a Battlestar Galactica "prequel" series (which should let you know it's great-- but also that there is a teensy bit of sci fi going on), but if what I saw on the pilot is any indication, not knowing anything about BSG will not hurt here (it may even help; BSG fans like me will be looking for Easter Eggs everywhere).
Anyway: this is sci fi of maybe 10-20 years in the future. It deals with a sort-of all-immersive social networking site and cybernetics. Things that could happen at any point on the not-so-distant future. It speaks very well of how our present society operates, and the challenges we will have to face soon.
But, mainly, it deals with two father's grief over losing their daughters and the different ways they cope with it.
I'll end by saying "check it out". It may take an hour or three to get rolling, but if it's anything like BSG, it will get rolling, and it will be very good. Don't let the sci fi (or the Syfy) scare you.
(And for those of you who are BSG fans-- the ending is cool [and scary] as Hell. Knowing that what is being worked on will end up nearly exterminating humans brings a very low-level dread to the subtext of the series.)
Spartacus; Starz. 9 pm CST. Series Premiere.
Sex and violence abound in this retelling of the classic slave story.
American Pickers; History. 8 pm CST. Series Premiere.
Antique hunters sift through dumpsters to find "gold".
Super-- I can't wait for the onslaught of garbage-picking rip-offs that's sure to follow.

Mr. Harris returns to complicate Christine's love life on The New Adventures of Old Christine (CBS; 7 pm CST). I've really dug Blair Underwood's work on this show in the past, so I thought I'd mention it.
Being Erica; SOAPnet. 9 pm CST. 2nd Season Premiere.
Thursday, 1/21
The Deep End; ABC. 7 pm CST. Series Premiere.
Young lawyers traverse the dangerous waters of an L.A. law firm.

What goes into meals, as told by Bobby Bognar.
Burn Notice; USA. 9 pm CST. Winter Return.
